Case Study: Restoring Water Quality at Kitsap Lake

Kitsap Lake is a 246-acre waterbody located in Bremerton, WA.  The lake is a recreational resource for the region, with two public parks and public boat launches.  The lake has experienced nutrient pollution and harmful algal blooms for decades and in recent years has been closed due to concerns with algal toxins.  To date the project has a been a tremendous success with significant improvement in water quality and aesthetics on the lake. The water clarity has improved by 4X while reducing the phosphorus levels by 90%.
